Carol Fay's Quilts - Testimonials

I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how nicely my Lone Star Quilt is coming along.... I have completed all 8 diamond points, and have also set in my triangles and squares. Including class time, it has taken only 11 hours to complete these first steps of this quilt top. Now if I can just decide upon a applique design, maybe I'll have this quilt completed by the end of summer! :o) The "cheat sheet" index card for matching the diamonds was a wonder! While not totally perfect, my seams for the diamonds are the best I've ever produced. Even my husband, who is a 3D solid modeler draftsman, was impressed with the results. And when he looks at the quilt top, he understands exactly WHY I wanted to take this class! I'm so happy that I took your class.... I have wanted to make a Lone Star Quilt for years, but was very intimidated by all the seams. Your class was a tremendous help, and your methods made the construction not only pain-free, but fun as well! I look forward to other classes you may be teaching in Reno in the future.

I just want to let you know how pleased I am with the way my double wedding ring is coming out. ... I started over with the same fabrics, and they look great. They sit very flat now when I lay them on the background. ... I took them into the shop last week when I worked on Thursday and put them up on the design wall. They look like a million dollars. I love them. ... I started out to make a table runner, and I am still going to make it long; but maybe for my buffet. I like it so much I may make a second one from the same fabrics but into a square and use it on my dining room table laying across as a diamond. ... I also like this method, the Mary Russell method, that is. I think it is easy once you get the idea of it.

Carol is a natural teacher, and it was a pleasure taking her class on strip piecing (Strip 2, 3, 4!). The students were a very mixed group, from beginner to advanced, but Carol was able to engage everyone, and teach them at the level they needed. Even though I had done a lot of quilting, I learned or perfected techniques that had previously eluded me. I am very glad that I attended this class, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
